Caine: Toa of Air

Caine has a very brief history as he was created as a Toa, not as a Matoran. However, due to Infernum's "keyboard smash" during Madness: Genesis, Caine and his teammates all have falsified memories. Below are all of his false memories.

 

It is unknown where Caine lived as a Le-Matoran. The most credible sources describe the Northern Continent as his home island, yet other other more dubious articles have stated Metru Nui as where Caine hails from.

Regardless of where he was as a Matoran, Caine took the first chance he could get to seek adventure and fame. He chanced upon Axonn who was passing through the Northern Continent on his way to Voya Nui. Caine managed to pester Axonn to the point where the Order of Mata Nui member actually slapped the Le-Matoran and promised to send another Order member to spirit Caine away to Daxia.

Axonn was true to his word. Within a week, Mazeka arrived and took Caine under his wing, training him to be a spy. Caine proved surprisngly adept at this task, despite being a near-hyperactive Le-Matoran. 

Caine's first assignment as a fully-fledged Order member was to aid the defense of one of the Southern Islands that had been freeds by Lesovikk some time before. The Brotherhood's Visorak horde had been conquering much land, and they had set their sights on this particular island. Despite his black ops training, Caine was given the responsibility of heading the Matoran forces on the island.

The defence was a complete failure. The Visorak overran the island. Not only that, but Caine was unfortunate enough to have been hit by a Reconstitute at Random Kanoka disk by a panicked Ga-Matoran. 

Then, he got bitten by a Visorak.

Caine emerged from his cocoon a monster, unlike anything seen before. Never had a Matoran experienced a Hordika infection, and certainly nothing had ever gone into a Visorak's cocoon still under the effects of a Reconstitute at Random Kanoka. The result? An eleven-foot titan, dripping with radioactive ooze, covered in spikes, with wicked claws and spines.

Soon after, Infernum suddenly appeared to Caine, offering him a way out of his pitiful situation. Caine was presented with a Great Kanohi, the Kanohi Novus, and an offer.

Refuse the offer, eventually become a mindless beast.

Or. Take the Great Mask of Clarity, counteract his inner rage, and take part in the Great Deathmatch. Caine chose to give himself a second chance. Infernum then placed him in stasis, where he would remain for centuries, until he was finally ready to set foot upon Xeno Nui.

Equipment

• Arm-mounted chaingun: This chaingun appeared upon Caine's arm once he set foot out of the Visorak's cocoon. It seems firmly attached to his arm and there is no true way to remove it. No way except to "phase" it, that is. Phasing seems to be done mentally. Caine is able to will away his chaingun, which would be very cumbersome otherwise. A rather strange ability to be granted through a Hordika mutation, is it not? 

• Ectoplasmic claw: One of Caine's new weapons gained through his mutation. This is a purely biological weapon. It seems to be a part of Caine, and acts as his hand. Specifications aside, the claw is forever sharp, and constantly secrets some sort of ooze, hence the name "ectoplasmic". The claw is many times more harder than diamond, but much less brittle. It is not protosteel, however, as it purely organic.

• Power fist: Caine uses his new power claw in conjunction with his ectoplasmic claw to become a veritable monster at close combat. Like his other claw, the power claw seems to be part of him, like a hand. This claw is completely mechanized.

• Arm-mounted  blaster: Spits out bolts of the same odd ooze that comes out of Caine's ectoplasmic claw. Can fold in or out.

• Kanohi Novus: The Great Mask of Clarity. This Kanohi is always on at a low level, bringing a slight sense of calm to the user. At full power, the Novus allows the user to completely focus on his task at hand to the point where almost nothing can distract him. At full power, the Kanohi Novus also bestows a slight air of calm to others nearby. Toa Caine's Kanohi Novus is always at near-full power, to counteract the Hordika venom. Despite being mutate, Caine can still access this mask powers. Yet another odd facet about his mutation...

Personality

One word to sum Caine up: There simply is none. 

Caine's personality is multi-faceted to such an extent that it almost makes no sense. 

 

One one side, you have someone who is fairly quiet, one who dislikes large crowds, and someone who is a polite yet cold to strangers.
