History
Spoiler ahead. Highlight the text to read, if you wish.
Vyander has a very brief history as he was created as a Toa, not as a Matoran. However, due to Infernum's "keyboard smash" during Madness: Genesis, Vyander and his teammates all have falsified memories. Below are all of his false memories.
Vyander has long forgotten his original name. He began his life as a Po-Matoran on Metru Nui, many years ago. He has been a carver for as long as he could remember, though clearly not the best of them, not by far. This Po-Matoran's productions continued to decline until it reached a point where a recognizable statue would come perhaps once a month, if he was lucky. His fellow workers would often complain about him. Their cries of disappointment finally ceased when Turaga Dume decided Vyander would be sent to Karzahni for reconditioning.
Vyander never came back to Metru Nui. No, more specifically, he never left the hellish island, as he was one of the many unfortunate Matoran to be forcibly kept on the island by the insane ruler after Matoran stopped being sent to him. Vyander's sole task on the island was a rather ironic and morbid one. Whenever another Matoran on Kazrahni felt tired and sat down, they were instantly turned into rock. It was Vyander's task to painstakingly chisel out the transformed Matoran from the blocks of stone. Over the years, the Po-Matoran has carved hundreds, if not thousands, of statues. The horrors of his time on Kazrahni did not end there.
After about two centuries of carving out the likeness of his fallen workers, his arm began to malfunction. The mad ruler swiftly appeared before him and ripped the arm right off and jammed his well-worn chisel into the vacant socket. On the relatively bright side, at least his arm wouldn't break ever again.
More centuries pass and at last, the Toa Nuva come to the infenal island in pursuit of Makuta Icarax and the Staff of Arthaka. Two of the Toa Nuva, Lewa and Onua, speak out to the damaged Matoran of Karzahni and convince them to travel to Metru Nui. And so they did. Too bad Vyander had collapsed a few days before from complete exhaustion. His body was then washed away along with all his statues from Gali Nuva's Nova Blast.
Infernum found the Po-Matoran lying face down at the bottom of the Silver Sea. At first, the Great Being expected the usual procedure. A violent death, perhaps a shipwreck, that would need some assistance from him to pass on. What he found instead was years upon years of suffering. He revived the Po-Matoran and gave him a name after noticing his disfigured mask, obviously given to him by Karzahni. Infernum gave him a choice to either be fully revived as a Toa, or to pass away.
Vyander said he didn't care.
And so, Infernum transformed the Po-Matoran into a Toa of Stone and placed him into stasis in preparation for the Great Deathmatch.
Equipment
-
Power lances: Four javelins that each contain the power of a thousand stars. Though these weapons are incredibly powerful, they each have only one use each. After striking a target at a high enough velocity, they release all of their stored energy. Therefore, Vyander rarely throws them, using them instead as short spears.
-
Kanohi Rode: The Kanohi Rode is the Mask of Truth. His Kanohi was given to him when he was transformed into a Toa and is not his original mask.

Personality
Vyander is a soft-spoken, cryptic and rather cold person. Members of the Nameless Team have compared him to Amea, perhaps the only other person as quiet as him. Somehow, people just get a different vibe from the Toa of Sonics. It's a bit hard to explain, but it seems as though Vyander isn't quiet, but rather, silent.
Toa Vyander has an odd way with words, often speaking in a slightly broken manner. He is also a slight mental instability, probably from his time spent on Karzahni. He has experienced very brief blackouts and the rare total muscle paralysis.
Finally, Vyander clearly does not want to share his experiences on Karzahni with any of his teammates. They say sharing your pain can help you through it, but this Toa doesn't seem to follow that way of thought. In short, he's a very closed individual.
